Saria's Story

With Ganondorf gone, all of Hyrule immediatly went into celebration. Everyone gathered at Lon Lon Ranch and partied.

It was great.

The sages went to Death Mountain to look over the land of Hyrule, to see it free once more.

Link, meanwhile, was standing with Zelda on the clouds.

Zelda used the power of the ocarina to return Link back to his original time. That meant the rest of us, too.

I knew this was happening. And I was glad.

For one moment I was sitting there, watching the land of Hyrule live in peace once again--

and the next I was . . . where? Back in the forest. I was a ten year-old again!

And so was Link.

Slowly, bits and pieces of what had happened began to fade out of my memory, and that was the way it should have been. I didn’t want to have never lived these past seven years, no matter how horrible they had been. But after all, what had happened to me even in the past month or two would take ten lifetimes to fill of a regular Kokiri. And I was just a kid. I didn't need this.

Link, as a child, left the forest . . . again. But it was different this time. This time, he didn't have to save Hyrule. What had happened could be prevented by one, small, simple step by Zelda.

And so, he went to see her. I watched. I knew how to focus my powers over distances now.

And I knew that though this adventure was closed, and though I was disappointed yet relieved, I also knew that a new one would begin . . . soon.
